Scrappy Saturday – the So You Think You Can Font Contest edition

October 15, 2011

This is the 3rd year of an amazing contest that I love! It gives you the chance to get out your pens and strut your stuff!

Here’s how it works!

1. Jot down a quick sample of a funky, hip, cool or beautiful alphabet you’d love to see made into a font.

2. Send it to me @ djbfontography @ gmaildotcom. It can be scanned or photographed. This is just a sample piece.

3. At the end of the contest (Oct 29), I’ll pick my favorite sample (or 2 or 4 favorites).

4. Winner gets to sell their font with me as a Perfect Pair @ Sweet Shoppe Designs

It’s that simple! yeah, yeah, there are some fine print things you need to read, but this is SO simple. And no matter how you might think it looks…send it in anyway! You never know – I might decide to ‘font’ it for you anyway!

Here are some of the past winners of the contest!

These are just a few of the amazing fonts that have come your way because of this contest. I love seeing what everyone creates. Get your pen and paper out and get scribbling!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me at the above address or post a question here or in the forums at Sweet Shoppe Designs.

Fine Print: Contest ends October 29, 2011 at midnight US central time. Winners will be notified by Nov. 5, 2011. Full rights of font belong to Darcy Baldwin {fontography} until such time as the font is no longer sold @ Sweet Shoppe Designs. Net profits from font will be split between Darcy Baldwin {fontography} and winner during the time it is sold @ Sweet Shoppe Designs. Font must be your own unique creation, not a copy or sample of a font already in production elsewhere.

And after all that – I DID scrap a little bit at the end of this week -
This is my Dad with all the grandkids. He’s becoming a softer, gentler version of himself since having grandkids and it’s been a blessing to see him settle into this roll!
My inlaws on their last visit. I love how they make sure to spend as much time making special memories with the boys while they are here with them as they can. We hate that we don’t live closer, so have to make every moment count!
Thanks for making it this far! I look forward to seeing all of your samples. Even the most simple handwriting style can make a great font, so be sure to send yours in!
